Corporate Social Investment

The Cipla Medpro South Africa Limited group is involved in a number of CSI initiatives within the health sector, from a bursary programme for pharmaceutical students (Ciple Medpro is also a patron of the UKZN Pharmaceutical faculty), to sponsoring the National Asthma Education Programme (NAEP) and establishing scholarships to enable healthcare practitioners in rural areas to attend those courses, through to the provision of free educational seminars and supporting various medical institutions and professionals in the provision of services and ongoing professional development.

Cipla Medpro is a Diamond Smile sponsor of non-profit surgical organisation Operation Smile SA which provides free reconstructive surgery for children born with cleft lips and/or palates. The Cipla Miles for Smiles Foundation was also established in 2006 to raise funds for that organisation. In 2006 and again in 2008, Cipla Medpro sponsored David Grier and Braam Malherbe on their world first runs - the Great Wall of China (2006) and the Coastal Challenge (2008) - undertaken to raise funds for Operation Smile SA.
